Recent national attention, including BCJ member Archie Goodburn’s courageous advocacy, has brought fresh focus to the challenges faced by brain cancer patients and families across the UK. Prime Minister Andy Burnham has agreed to meet with Archie to discuss our call for a National Brain Cancer Lead and for patients to be given “a chance to fight for our lives”.

We must maintain this momentum, and your action can make a difference.

On 15 June, 35 MPs spoke in the Westminster Hall debate on the Brain Cancer Justice (BCJ) petition, ensuring the voices of more than 109,000 people who signed the petition were heard in Parliament.

The debate was an important milestone. The challenge now is to turn momentum into meaningful change.

Recent national attention, significantly helped by Commonwealth swimmer and BCJ member Archie Goodburn, has reinforced the urgent need for change. BCJ has shone a spotlight on the need for a National Brain Cancer Lead with the authority to challenge barriers, drive progress and be accountable for improving brain cancer outcomes.

We are fighting for a future where brain cancer is no longer the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40.

The event will provide an opportunity for parliamentarians to hear directly from patients, families and clinicians, discuss the urgent action needed to improve brain cancer outcomes, and support the appointment of a National Brain Cancer Lead to drive progress and accountability.
